MTC's trained technicians are available for both Warranty and Out of Warranty repair or service on all current Sony PlayStation products. Please keep in mind to follow Sony's service process when it comes to all Warranty units in order to ensure your unit is fully covered!

Repair Notices

In order to have your PlayStation serviced, you must call Sony Interactive Entertainment America (SIEA / PLAYSTATION) at 1-800-345-SONY (7669) to obtain a Service Request (SR) Number. Alternatively, a service request can be processed through the PlayStation website.

MTC can repair the following systems:

  • PlayStation 4 (PS4), PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation 2 (PS2)
  • PlayStation Portable (PSP). PlayStation Portable Go (PSP Go)
  • PS Vita
  • 3D Display
  • PS VR

To qualify for Warranty repair, units must include a valid Proof of Purchase (POP) or store receipt. Any units lacking POP will be treated as Out of Warranty and are subject to any applicable charges.

Voided Warranties

Warranty will be void if the Serial Number or the Warranty Void sticker is missing or have been removed.
Warranty will be void if the serial number inside the battery compartment is missing or have been removed.
Warranty will be void if the Serial Number or the Warranty Void sticker is missing or have been removed.
Warranty will be void if both the external Barcode and Serial Number are missing or have been removed.
All systems with a voided warranty can still be serviced as Out of Warranty units, however charges will apply. See the Pricing chart below for more details.

Service Notes

Units with illegal modifications and a missing serial number will not be serviced
MTC is not responsible for any loss of data or media. The customer is responsible for backing up their own hard drive (if applicable)
Once the unit has been assessed, it is MTC's discretion whether the unit will be repaired or exchanged
MTC offers a 90-day Warranty on repairs or refurbished exchanges, as long as the tamper proof sticker is still intact
MTC cannot sell parts for PlayStation repair
The following PS3 models are no longer eligible for service: CECHA01, CECHG01, CECHE01, CECHE01MG, CECHH01, CECHK01, CECHL01 & CECHP01

Shipping Information

For all PS4, PS3, 3D Display, and PS VR units that require service, the customer must be granted a Service Request (SR) # from Sony. If you are intending on getting one of these units serviced, please call Sony Interactive Entertainment America at 1-800-345-7669. Once the number has been received, then you can proceed with shipping.

When shipping to MTC for either Warranty or Out of Warranty units, our customers have two options.

Live in the area?

Customers located in the surrounding area of MTC Whitby, ON have the option to either drop off or ship their unit directly to MTC.

Live outside our area?

For Sony service, SIEA will make the arrangements to have MTC send the customer a box to use to safely transport the unit. With this box, they can ship their unit into MTC using the prepaid Purolator waybill supplied to them. Please ensure to use the supplied packaging. Sony Interactive Entertainment America will not accept any Warranty units damaged through shipping because the customer did not properly package their PlayStation in the box provided. Out of Warranty customers will have their shipping costs included under the Flat Rate pricing.

Customers looking to have their PS2, PSP, PSP Go, and PS Vita units serviced have the same shipping options available to them. However, the following changes apply:

  • customers choosing to drop off and pick up their unit must still pay the Flat Rate fee
  • customers are responsible for paying the initial shipping charges, while the return shipping charges are included in the Flat Rate fee

Flat Rate Pricing

The term "Flat Rate" refers to the price of the repair or exchange alongside the return shipping charges. Once the unit is assessed by our trained technicians, MTC will determine whether the unit will be repaired or exchanged.

Please note, customers choosing to drop off and pick up their unit will still be required to pay the Flat Rate fee.
