The Sony of Canada VCR/DVD
program is a “peace of mind” program wherein
the customer’s in warranty VCR/DVD will be replaced
(with refurbished).
If the customer has purchased within 30 days, the exchange
is with new stock.
All Sony of Canada VCR/DVD’s have a one year
warranty period. If a customer has had a repair/exchange
within this warranty period the warranty is either 90 days
or the remainder of the warranty period, whichever is greater.
The customer has two options: repair and return
or exchange.
For repair and return the customer is supplied
with Purolator’s phone number and MTC's VCR/DVD account
number and address to send the unit in.
For exchange, the customer can send the
unit into MTC with a copy of the bill of sale and when it
is received and MTC has verified the warranty, they can
dispatch a replacement
For an advance exchange, MTC needs a copy
of the customers bill of sale faxed to them and their credit
card number to ensure they return the defective unit to
MTC as well.
If a customer received as a gift we can use the
Canadian gift form. If the unit is purchased in US, then
Sony of Canada will do a "good will repair" for
the customer. MTC will then need a copy of the bill of sale,
warranty card and the customer can have a repair only.
All VCR - Peace of Mind Units have a flat rate out of warranty
charge of $65.00 plus tax and this includes shipping back
to the customer.
All DVD and VCR/DVD Combo - Peace of Mind Units have a $76.00
flat rate charge plus tax and this also includes shipping
back to the customer.
If it is determined that the remote is defect, MTC
can also send a replacement remote out under warranty.
