PLAYSTATION:

PLAYSTATION 3 :

If a customer has a PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system that requires servicing or technical support, they must call Sony Computer Entertainment America at 1-800-345-7669 before calling MTC. When the customer calls this number, they will receive a Service Request (SR) #. Once the SR # is received the customer has 2 options:

1) If the customer lives in the area close to either MTC Whitby, ON or MTC Coquitlam, BC: They can bring in their PlayStation 3 and all accessories (minus software) for a warranty repair/exchange, providing they have their proof of purchase (POP). The POP is mandatory for all warranty repairs/exchanges.

2) If the customer doesn't live in an area close to either MTC Whitby, ON or MTC Coquitlam, BC: During the customers' initial call to Sony, Sony will make the arrangements to have MTC send the customer a box to use to transport their PlayStation 3 and all accessories (minus software). With this box, they can ship their unit into MTC. Sony Computer Entertainment America will not accept any warranty units damaged through shipping because the customer did not properly package their PlayStation in the MTC packaging. Upon MTC receiving the customer's PlayStation 3 and POP, a warranty exchange or repair will be processed and the new unit shipped back to the customer. The customer must stipulate on the paperwork included with their shipped unit, whether they prefer their unit to be repaired and returned or exchanged.

All out of warranty units due to no valid proof of purchase or physical damage or liquid damage or shipping damage (shipping damage due to improper packaging) are subject to MTC's go ahead pricing of $169.00 plus applicable taxes (see full prices below). Once the unit has been assessed it is MTC's discretion whether the unit will be repaired or exchanged. If the unit can not be repaired a $25.00 assessment fee will be charged plus shipping and applicable taxes.

For an out of warranty PlayStation repair, the customer must make sure to send their Credit Card information or a Certified Cheque or Money Order made out to the Manufacturing & Technology Centre (MTC), for the correct price, along with their unit.

The customer should ensure their unit is well packaged, and enclosed with the unit the following items: a letter with their full name, phone number, return address and a description of the problem.

PLAYSTATION 2 :
If a customer has a PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system that needs servicing, they should read on so MTC can inform them on how they can send their unit in for service without any more delay.

Units with illegal modifications can not be serviced.

MTC offers 2 programs, refurbished exchange or repair and return. The refurbished exchange is 24 hour turnaround time once the unit is received. The repair and return option has a 72 hour turnaround time once the unit is received.

If the customer lives in the area close to either service centre: They can bring in their PlayStation 2 for a warranty repair/exchange, providing they have their proof of purchase (POP). The POP is mandatory for all warranty repairs/exchanges.

If a customer is PST exempt and lives in one of the above provinces, they must send in proof of exemption with their unit and they will not be charged the PST.

MTC accepts all major credit cards, money orders and certified cheques made payable to MTC. If a customer picks-up their unit, they can also pay by cash or Debit.

If a customers' unit is in warranty and has been purchased within 90 days, they should call TOLL FREE 1-800-345-7669, press 2 and speak to a Customer Service Representative.*
