Extended Warranty: |
Sony Care is an Extended Service Plan for Sony PlayStation® systems, audio, video, digital and professional products. Sony Care Extended Service Plans provide added warranty protection in addition to the original manufacturer's warranty period.
Product Eligibility:
- Only products distributed by Sony of Canada Ltd. are eligible for Sony Care Extended Warranty (also including Sony PlayStation® products, which are distributed by Sony Computer Entertainment).
- To be eligible, products will be less than $20,000 (MSRP)*.
- Product bill of sale must always be presented at time of Sony Care purchase.
- Sony Care will not cover costs to repair or maintain equipment used for rental purposes.
- Eligible products must be within the original manufacturer's limited warranty period.
* NOTE: There are some exceptions to certain product categories. Contact Sony of Canada Ltd. at 1-800-773-9667 for more details.
Coverage:
- Sony Care extended service plan coverage is an extension of the original manufacturer's warranty and is bound by the same terms and conditions.
- Sony Care must be purchased prior to the expiry of the original manufacturer's warranty period.
- Sony Care coverage commences upon the expiration of the original Sony manufacturer's limited warranty and continues for the number of years of plan coverage purchased.
- Manufacturer's limited warranty and Sony Care extended warranty coverage periods are based upon purchase date reflected on the product sales receipt.
- Coverage will not exceed 5 years maximum, including original manufacturer's warranty period. Plasma Display products and VAIO computer products are only eligible for maximum 3 years combined coverage.
- Sony Care is GST taxable, is subject to PST as per the provincial legislation where the plan is sold.
- The customer executes their Sony Care warranty coverage through their Sony Care receipt and Product receipt.
- Sony Care is valid only in Canada. Service is provided by Sony Service Centres or Authorized Sony Service Centres across Canada.
- This plan does not cover lamps for LCD projectors or LCD televisions or batteries.
- This plan does not provide coverage to software or firmware.
Support:
- The Sony Care program is fully supported by a bilingual toll free customer support call centre, at SONY headquarters in Canada named, the CIC (Customer Information Centre).
- Sony Care plans are renewable and transferable.
- Renewals must be purchased prior to the expiration of the current Sony Care coverage Period. Facilitated by the Sony Call Centre (CIC).
- Transfers may be initiated at any point prior to commencement of a Sony Care plan, or during an active Sony Care plan. Facilitated by the Sony Call Centre (CIC).
