Manufacturing & Technology Centre (MTC) is pleased to be a partner in the Ontario Governments, “Do What You Can” E-Waste Recycling Program.

What is "Do What You Can"?
To decrease the amount of potentially hazardous material accumulating in our landfills, the Ontario Government has designated Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES), a non-profit industry organization to manage a program that encourages reuse, recycling and, if needed, proper disposal of unwanted electronic equipment. |
What electronic products will MTC accept as part of this program?
Phase 2 approved electronic products include (launched April 1st, 2010):
- Radios
- Receivers
- Speakers
- Tuner
- Turntable
- Cellular phones
- PDA's and Pagers
- Cameras
- Modems
- Equalizers & Amplifiers
- Audio and Video players
- Copiers/Scanners/Typewriters
- Telephones (plus accessories)
- Video players/projectors
- Video recorder
- Personal hand held computers |

- CD- ROM drives
- Desktop computers
- Disk drives
- Fax machines
- Keyboards
- Laptop computers
- Mice
- Monitors
- Printers (desktop)
- Televisions
- Terminals |
NOTE: These are all consumer products only. Industrial/commercial products will not be accepted.
How much will this cost me, the customer?
Nothing! This program is free to use.
Where and when can I drop off my electronic products?
Please bring your approved electronic items (listed above) to our MTC Clearance Store entrance at the front of the building (located at MTC's main location in Whitby, ON -
see map). You will be required to sign a disposal sticker that will be placed on your item.

Televisions larger than 27” or 50 lbs can only be accepted Monday to Friday at our shipping/receiving dock doors on our west side.
Staff will be available to assist you (if required) from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Unfortunately, MTC will not be available to provide assistance on Saturdays (closed Sunday).
What if I have an electronic product I want to recycle and its not on the approved list?
The "Do What You Can" Program has a plan to have different phases of this program released throughout the year. Each phase will allow us to accept additonal varieties of electronics. Check with your local municipality for special collect days.
