MTC repairs Warranty and Out Of Warranty
monitors, notebooks, desktops, external/internal/dat drives and Cliés (plus various other computer related products) . Customers can drop their units off at (or ship their units to) the MTC Whitby, ON location to receive repair.

Warranty Repairs:
Below is the list of manufacturer's which MTC is authorized to repair computers (see description above - bolded) for under Warranty (with Warranty/Service Information & Support phone numbers):

NOTE: Customers Warranty will be void if physical or liquid damage.
If customers decide to ship their unit into MTC, the customer will pay for the incoming shipping charges & MTC pays for the outgoing shipping charges back to the customer. Customers may also drop off & pick-up their units at MTC Whitby, ON.

When packaging their unit for shipping (or dropping off), Customers must include their Proof of Purchase (POP, or store receipt). This will ensure a faster repair. If the POP is not received, the MTC Customer Service group will have to contact the customer to verify the Warranty. If the Customers Warranty is not valid, Out of Warranty pricing will be discussed (see below for more information).
Customers must also include the following inside the box: a letter with their full name, phone number, return address and a description of the problem.
NOTE: If a customer has a unit that was purchased in the USA (or is a non-Canadian model), the unit will need to be taken back to the store/depot of purchase for repair.
Notes for Warranty Monitor Service:
The manufacturer's date on the back of the unit will suffice if no POP is included.
Some monitors have a 1-year Warranty while others have a 3-year Warranty. Customers should call MTC at 1-888-666-7669 to determine their Warranty terms.
Customers should call Sony before calling MTC for service as they may be eligible to get a loaner unit while their unit is being repaired.
If customers cannot ship their unit because they don't have the original box, MTC can supply a box to the customer. They can call MTC at 1-888-666-7669 to have a box delivered.
If a customer has a CRT monitor and decides to deliver their unit to MTC for repair, they must leave their unit in their vehicle. Customer Service will be able to book the customer in, but will then send them to the side dock doors, where Receiving will be able to assist with the lifting of the unit. However, if the customer visits MTC on a Saturday or Sunday, they will have to bring the unit into Customer Service themselves (as there isn't a Receiver shift on weekends).
Notes for Warranty Notebook/Desktop Service:
Customers are responsible for backing up their hard drives. This includes any valuable data they have stored. The contents of their hard drive may be lost or reformatted in the course of service. Sony and MTC will not be responsible for any damage to, or loss of any program, data or information.
Some notebooks/desktops have a 1-year Warranty while others have a 3-year Warranty. Customers should call MTC at 1-888-666-7669 to determine their Warranty terms.
Notes for Warranty CD-RW / DVD-RW / CD-ROM:
- Customers MUST first call SONY for technical support at 1-800-961-7669.
- All accessories must be shipped in for repair with the unit and the Customers bill of sale.
- If the Bill of Sale cannot be supplied, MTC will use the manufacturers date (on the unit) to determine the warranty.
- CD/RW, CD-ROM's and DVD-ROM's have 1 year Warranties. Customers should call MTC at 1-888-666-7669 to determine if their Warranty is in fact still valid.
Out Of Warranty Repairs:
As long as the manufacturer's parts have been made available to MTC, all makes and models of computers (see description of "computers" at top of page - bolded) can be repaired Out Of Warranty. If no parts are needed for repair, then the repair can be completed at a "Go Ahead" rate. All customers will be charged an estimate fee for MTC to diagnose their unit (see below for pricing).
If a Customer decides to ship their unit into MTC, the Customer will pay for the incoming & outgoing shipping charges (outgoing will be included in the "Go Ahead" rate or factored into the estimate). Customers may also drop off & pick-up their units at MTC Whitby, ON.
