Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal

At a special ceremony on July 11th, 2012, Howard Humphrey (MTC CEO) was honoured with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal!
Whitby-Oshawa MPP Christine Elliott presented the medals to the recipients for their dedicated service to their peers, their community and Canada.
The recipients outstanding contributions will be recognized with this Diamond Jubilee Medal, and we are fortunate to have them as members of our community.
The prestigious award has been created to mark the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty's accession to the throne. MPs and MPPs were invited to nominate candidates from their communities for this national honour. (DurhamRegion.com - July 2012) |
ISO Certification: 9001 & 14001 Certificates Extended

On September 23rd, 2011, Manufacturing and Technology Centre (MTC) announced that its ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management Systems) certifications have been extended for another year (MTC obtained official certification in 2010).
These certifications apply to MTC Whitby's corporate and operations divisions. The MTC Indiana location continues to maintain compliance with the ISO 9001 & 14001 international quality/environmental systems standard, upon which MTC Whitby's Quality Management System & Environmental Management System is based.

DREN Innovation Award

In 2008, MTC won the DREN (Durham Region Employment Network) Innovation Award at the DREN Employability Gala. This award recognizes an innovative program, special project or new venture that assists clients with barriers to employment in their quest to obtain employment.
This award was given to MTC in partnership with ODSP Employment Supports & Durham Region Local Training Board. |

The Manufacturing and Technology Centre is a Whitby based company founded in 2000. The company is owned and operated by Howard Humphrey.
In the beginning MTC employed 35 people, today the company has over 150 personnel in 3 locations. MTC was once Sony Electronics.It was Howard Humphrey’s innovative idea for transforming the traditional
service depot to add value to both customers and manufacturers. Mr.Humphrey focused on streamlining and automating operations, expanding the Call Centre and reverse logistics aspects of the business.
Despite fierce competition the company has been successful in establishing itself as a one stop shop for the returns and repair business and has become the authorized Canadian service depot
for Sony of Canada and HBC (Hudson Bay Company) Electronics and Appliances Division. MTC is now the largest repair facility of Sony product in the country and is also the only repair facility for PlayStation in Canada.
